Summary

Today's passage shows John the Baptist crying out in the wilderness, preparing for the coming of Jesus Christ. We need true repentance first for the Lord's grace to come into our lives, and we must seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Like John the Baptist, it is important for us to elevate Jesus through our lives and to adopt a humble attitude by laying down our own righteousness. I pray that we live today filled with the Holy Spirit and lead lives that proclaim Jesus, the main character of the Gospel.

The word of God given to us is from Mark 1:1-8. Mark 1:1-8. Let us read together.

The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. As it is written in the prophets, "Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way." The voice of one crying in the wilderness: "Prepare the way of the Lord; make his paths straight." John appeared, baptizing in the wilderness and proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. And all the country of Judea and all Jerusalem were going out to him and were being baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. Now John was clothed with camel's hair and wore a leather belt around his waist and ate locusts and wild honey. And he preached, saying, "After me comes he who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit." >> Amen.

Synoptic Gospels

The three gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke are called the Synoptic Gospels. The term "Synoptic" refers to the narrative structure of these three gospels, which describes events or facts in the order of time or human relationships as they occurred. Thus, they share the same narrative structure. Furthermore, the similarity in sentence expressions and even the use of identical words is striking, which is why they are referred to as Synoptic Gospels when the texts of the gospels are arranged in parallel. The Gospel of John, on the other hand, is excluded from the Synoptic Gospels due to its symbolic and theological records and its lengthy structure of words.
