Summary

We live with a spiritual thirst. Although we have become materially affluent today, many people suffer from a thirst of the soul. In this pain, only Jesus Christ is our Savior, and when we earnestly seek and rely on Him, we can experience true peace and healing. We must long for God, pray to hear His voice, and live a life of gratitude.

Thank you. Thank you for the precious praise. Amen. I will greet you this way. We are living a blessed life. We are living a blessed life. We will surely prosper in the Lord. Today, I would like to share the grace of the Word with the title "The Grace of Spiritual Thirst," based on Psalm 42. Please repeat the title with me. The grace of spiritual thirst. The grace of spiritual thirst.

When comparing the 1960s and 70s to today, food, clothing, and overall living conditions have all improved. However, in some ways, I believe many people today are living poor lives amidst abundance. Our living conditions have improved, but we have become spiritually more desolate, and many people are living in a thirst of the soul. Those who do not know Jesus are wandering. As a result, those who call on Jesus are becoming dependent on worldly things, falling into alcohol addiction, gambling, and drug addiction. According to data from the National Health Insurance Service and the Health and Welfare Committee of the National Assembly, the number of depression patients in Korea in 2020 was about 830,000, but it has surged by 7.4% each year, reaching a record high of 1,106,603 in 2024. However, this figure is expected to exceed that again, with projections of 1,383,918 in 2025, while sleep disorders are expected to reach 1,281,695 cases and anxiety disorders 910,138 cases. A total of 84 billion won was spent on depression treatment, and 33.5 billion won on anxiety disorder treatment, resulting in over 1.2 trillion won in medical expenses. Analyzing by gender and age, women account for 743,590, or 67.2%, which is more than double that of men at 363,130. Female patients in their 20s, 30s, and 40s make up 33.2% of the total. By age group, patients under 10 years old increased by 118.2% in five years, from 991 in 2020 to 2,162 in 2024. During the same period, the increase was 83.5% for those in their 20s, 69.7% for those in their 30s, and 52.4% for those in their 40s. This indicates that the younger generation is falling into deep depression due to an inability to satisfy their emotional longings amidst abundance. There are various factors, but as a result of parents and society failing to address these issues, more and more young people are suffering from depression and living lives of pain. The only one who can save us from this depression and despair is none other than Jesus Christ. Amen. Amen. Only Jesus can save us from all depression, all diseases, and all mental anguish. Amen. The Lord is calling us. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Amen. Amen. When we lay down our heavy burdens of the heart, the burdens of daily life, the burdens of family, and the burdens of work before the Lord and find peace in Him, we can receive peace from our sorrowful hearts and salvation from all pain. I earnestly pray that we all escape from all pain in the Lord and live a victorious life loving the Lord every day. To do this, we must live a life that longs for God. Psalm 42:1 states: "As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God." Amen. Just as a deer leaps over mountains to find God's water, we are running here and there in our daily lives to quench the thirst of our souls. Now, I hope you long for God and come before Him. Amen. With my strength and ability, I can only hit a limit. I cannot solve everything on my own. The answer to all problems lies with our God. Amen. Again, I earnestly sought God in suffering. Psalm 63:1: "O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water." Amen. I earnestly sought God. Who will help us now? When things are going well, people gather and do their own work, but when problems arise, everyone retreats, crossing their arms and only saying unhelpful things. At that time, the only one who can help us is the Lord God. Amen. Jesus, though He is God, sometimes earnestly sought God when He came in the flesh. Because only God can solve the problems of our lives, Jesus knelt down and prayed before God. Even when choosing His disciples, He cried out earnestly before God. Luke 6:12-13 explains that He prayed to God all night. At that time, Jesus went up on a mountainside to pray and spent the night praying to God. When morning came, He called His disciples to Him and chose twelve of them to be apostles. Similarly, David sought God's help in extreme pain. Psalm 16:1-2: "Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge. I say to the Lord, 'You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.'" Amen. We have no blessing apart from the Lord. No one can solve our problems except the Lord. When problems arise, do not look for people here and there; rather, kneel before the Lord and cry out, cry out again, and cry out once more. Amen. The day before Jesus was crucified, He prayed in Gethsemane, weeping. Luke 22:42-44 describes it this way: "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done." Jesus prayed with all His strength, and His sweat fell to the ground like drops of blood. I hope you long for God earnestly like this. When we earnestly long for and seek God, He meets us. Jeremiah 29:13: "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Amen. When we seek Him, our Lord meets us. I pray in the name of the Lord that you earnestly seek God once again for your life and that by His grace, you resolve all your problems. Amen. Amen. To do this, secondly, we must long for God's voice. God speaks to us who are in despair. Isaiah 33:2: "O Lord, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress." Amen. God tells us who are in despair not to be discouraged, not to be disappointed, and not to be frustrated. He tells us to look only to the Lord and move forward. Psalm 40:5: "Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God." Amen. When facing difficulties, do not listen to the voices of the world, the voices of people, the voices of circumstances, or the voices of the powers of darkness. Everyone has a peculiar habit of wanting to hear only the voices they want to hear. So they get caught up in wrong YouTube content and cannot escape. What they believe is only that. You must listen to God's voice. No one has the right voice. We are all imperfect humans. We must listen to God's voice. Amen. Psalm 40:1: "I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry." Amen. When we earnestly seek and seek again, the Lord hears our prayers and answers us. Just a moment ago, the Lord spoke to us: "Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Amen. Amen. This is the word from Isaiah 41:10. When you are in difficulty and facing tough situations, I pray in the name of the Lord that you meditate on the Lord's word once again, again, and again. So that you may overcome all difficulties and surely be victorious. Amen. Amen. In the future, we must earnestly pray to the Lord. Even if the people of the world say they will help us, there are limits. Wealthy people can give a little material to those who have none. Those in power can persuade others to accept. But that cannot solve our problems. It cannot be resolved that way. Only our Lord can fundamentally heal the despair, pain, and wounds of our hearts, so we must kneel before Him and pray. Amen. Psalm 22 contains David's prayer as he feels forsaken by God in pain and anguish. "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish?" "O my God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer; by night, but I find no rest." How desperate must his life have been for him to cry out to God like this? In fact, after defeating Goliath, he became a fugitive due to King Saul's hatred. For about 14 years, he could not find peace anywhere, wandering from place to place in search of a job, living the life of a fugitive. His soul was completely shattered. In Psalm 22:14-15, he describes the pain of his life: "I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart has turned to wax; it has melted within me. My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth; you lay me in the dust of death." How desperate and painful must he have been to pour out his pain before God like this? Dear friends, there are times in life when we face unspeakable difficulties. There are cases where one believes they are healthy all their life, only to receive a cancer diagnosis at the hospital one day. Cancer is deceitful. People ask why they came so late. Usually, there are no symptoms in the early stages of cancer. Physical discomfort only begins in the terminal stage. That is why regular health check-ups are important. Through daily check-ups, one can know whether cancer exists, but people often discover it only in the terminal stage and fall apart. They think, "I am going to die." However, if you hold onto the Lord and rise again, I believe we can conquer cancer. Nowadays, it is a disease that can be overcome. Amen. Amen. Do not ever give up or be discouraged. Hold onto the Lord and move forward. Then the Lord will hold us in despair, touch our wounds, renew us, and fill us with abundant grace. Amen. Amen. I look to the Lord again in tribulation. I find peace in my heart and pray like this. Psalm 27:3: "Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident." I pray that you believe only in the Lord and make Him your refuge. Amen. This is Psalm 18:29: "With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall." Amen. I hope you leap over the walls of despair with faith. Amen. Amen. I hope you leap over the answers to your problems. Amen. Psalm 18:18-19 says: "They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the Lord was my support. He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me." Hallelujah. Amen. Amen. Even in despair, David made a confession of faith that he would trust only in God. "The Lord has saved me." The situation has not changed yet. The problems still surround me, but I confess in faith: "The Lord has healed me." My problems have been resolved in the Lord. Psalm 30:2: "O Lord my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me." When we call on the Lord, He heals all our diseases. Amen. Psalm 103 contains amazing words of blessing: "Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's." Hallelujah. We thank God. He will overcome all despair and renew our youth like the eagle's. Amen. Therefore, our lives must be lives overflowing with gratitude before the Lord. Amen. Psalm 100:4: "Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name." I hope you become a person who thanks the Lord who saved a sinner like me and led me here today. Amen. I hope you become a person who thanks once again. Amen. Amen.
